Course Name: Probability and Statistics
Course Code:
Course Duration: 17 Study weeks
Credit Hrs: 3
Course Team: Masood Amjad Khan, Inamul Haq, Hina Muzaffar
Course Description: Introduction of statistical experimentation and research methods with applications in natural and social sciences. This course introduces the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. The four broad conceptual themes are: exploring data, planning a study, anticipating patterns. Systematic coverage of the more widely used statistical methods, such as probability and probability distributions, simple regression and correlation. Students are expected to make a presentation in an applied field and complete a data-based project as part of the course requirement
Pre-Requisites: Elementary Mathematics.
Course Goal: · Make students to understand the importance of Statistics · Teach students how the data can be described · Focus on the applications of descriptive Statistics on real life data · Using the Statistical Software for descriptive Statistics · Develop the interest in random events and the distributions of these events. Applications of regression and correlation on real life data
